Accounting

Accounting that makes your numbers make sense.

Included in monthly bookkeeping: $550–$1,800/mo

The monthly close, financial statements, payroll recording and sales-tax records — kept for you, month after month.

Reviewed before delivery: reports go out only after the accounts behind them agree with their statements and every open question is listed for you. What the review checks.

One fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing. Your CPA keeps the tax work.

Reviewed before delivery Operational, non-CPA scope

Quick answer

The line between bookkeeping and accounting is the close. Bookkeeping records and reconciles transactions; accounting turns a reconciled month into statements, payroll entries and sales-tax figures you can decide from. If the question is what the month shows, it's our work; if it's what to file or claim, it's your CPA's — we're not a CPA firm.

Included in monthly bookkeeping ($550–$1,800 a month); your exact fee is scoped in writing. Statements, payroll recording and sales-tax support are covered by that monthly fee. What the published range includes.

Problems we solve

If your numbers aren't working for you, you're in the right place.

Six patterns that come up for business owners and nonprofit boards. Each one is solvable with a documented plan.

Scope clarity

Operational accounting — and where it stops.

Operational accounting is the layer your business runs on every month: the structured close, the reconciled records, the reports that tell you what actually happened. It is not tax filing, and it is not audit. It's the work that makes both of those easier.

We're not a CPA firm. We do not file income-tax returns, give tax advice, perform audits, or provide legal or financial-planning guidance. What we do is deliver clean, reconciled books every month — so your CPA can work without spending the first week untangling yours.

How we work

A real workflow — from the first review to the monthly close.

1

Accounting review

We assess current records, your chart of accounts, and reporting gaps — then put scope, timeline, and what clean looks like in writing before anything begins.

2

Chart of accounts

Build or restructure the chart of accounts for operational clarity — categories that reflect how your business runs, not a default template.

3

Reconciliation

Bank, card, loan and merchant accounts each agreed to their statements, with variances investigated and resolved before the close runs.

4

Monthly close

Structured, documented, and reviewed before delivery. P&L, balance sheet, and management reports quality-checked at every step.

5

Reporting & handoff

Owner-readable reports on a fixed cadence, and CPA-ready books maintained every period — so year-end is a clean handoff, not a reconstruction.

A decision tree sorting three questions about the numbers: whether every entry ties out to its statement is bookkeeping; what the reconciled month shows, in statements, payroll entries and sales-tax figures, is operational accounting and our work; and what to file or claim, including returns, tax advice and audits, belongs to your CPA, because we're not a CPA firm.

Operational standards

Four things every engagement holds to.

Works inside QuickBooks

Accounting and bookkeeping managed inside QuickBooks Online and Desktop, in the file you already own.

Reviewed before delivery

Each close passes the documented review before you or your CPA see it.

Secure access

Accountant access only, multi-factor authentication on each login we hold for your books, and least-privilege controls. No shared logins.

Books ready for your CPA

Each account agreed to its statement and each fix written down, so tax season is a handoff; any cleanup work is quoted in writing before it starts.

Just the standards we work to.

Decision-grade numbers don't come from software. They come from a structured close: every account reconciled, every period, and reviewed before it reaches you.

FAQ · Updated October 2026

The accounting questions owners bring to the first call.

Operational accounting is the structured layer between daily bookkeeping and the tax work a CPA handles: the monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting-system management that keep your numbers decision-ready every period — not just at tax time. Your CPA files returns and gives tax advice, and they need clean books to do it well. We provide those books. We're not a CPA firm and do not provide tax advice, tax filing, audit, or legal advice.
No. We do not file income-tax returns, give tax advice, perform audits, or provide legal or financial-planning advice. We deliver clean, reconciled, CPA-ready books and coordinate with your CPA at year-end. When you need tax advisory, that is a job for a qualified CPA.
Our month-end close includes reconciling every account to source, reviewing every categorization, and producing a reviewed profit-and-loss statement and balance sheet — all reviewed before delivery. It runs on a fixed cadence each month, not just at year-end, so your numbers are current each month.
Clients receive a monthly profit-and-loss statement, a balance sheet, and a cash-flow statement, plus any management views their operation needs — P&L by location, category, or division. The reports are built to be read by owners and boards, with a brief note in plain English on what moved and why.
Bookkeeping is the daily recording and reconciliation of transactions. Accounting is the structured layer on top: the monthly close, financial statements, and decision-grade reporting built from those clean records. We do both, so nothing is lost in the handoff between them.
We do. We build or restructure your chart of accounts for operational clarity — categories that reflect how your business actually runs, not a generic template — and maintain it as the business grows. A clean chart of accounts is the foundation of reports that mean something.
We keep your books reconciled and documented every month, then hand your CPA an organized, filed-from-ready package at year-end. Your CPA files from books that need no repair first, and you avoid the January cleanup scramble. We are the operational accounting; your CPA is the tax.
Pricing follows the same logic across everything we do: one number, set in writing, before work begins — never an hourly meter. For operational accounting specifically, that number is a flat monthly fee sized to your transaction volume, your account count, and the mix of services you actually need, worked out during the free books review rather than guessed at over email. A backlog that needs cleaning up first gets its own separate fixed fee, scoped in writing.
